Women's Commission
"Gender Story" - Short Video Filming Competition on Gender Awareness for Secondary Students

The Women's Commission is organising the "Gender Story" - Short Video Filming Competition on Gender Awareness for Secondary Students from December 2009 to April 2010 with the aim to enhance contestants' gender awareness and sense of gender equality through the design and production of short videos, as well as to arouse the community's concern over these topics and reflection on how gender prejudice and gender stereotyping are impacting our society today.

To help participating students to have a better understanding of gender perspective and video making, the Commission will organised a workshop on 23 January 2010. The deadline for registration of the workshop is extended to 15 January 2010 while submission of entries for the competition is 16 April 2010.

International Women's Day 2010 -
Community Involvement

The Women's Commission, since its establishment in January 2001, has celebrated International Women's Day (IWD) with official receptions for members of women's groups and various communities in Hong Kong. Opportunity has also been taken on each occasion to involve as many interested parties as possible in the event and related activities with a view to sustaining and expanding the public attention on the well-being and interests of women.

As in previous years, the Women's Commission has compiled an information leaflet on NGO activities to celebrate IWD. The leaflet aims to collect and collate information on activities to be held around the time of IWD (in the month of March 2010 or afterwards) for the community at large or for women.
