To gain a better understanding of the situation of women in Hong Kong in various context and facilitate the formulation of strategies
in promoting women's well-being, the Women's Commission has conducted the following surveys and research:

The Equal Opportunities Commission and the Women's
Commission jointly commissioned the Lingnan University
to conduct a research study for gaining a better understanding
of the needs, awareness, adoption and benefits of 'Family-Friendly
Employment Policies and Practices' in Hong Kong.
Fieldwork was conducted between March and May 2006 and
this study covered both the employers and the employees.

The Women's Commission commissioned the University
of Hong Kong to conduct a research study on the core
values for parenting education for instilling in
the children for their personal nourishment.

An effectiveness survey was conducted in three
rounds between the period of March 2002 to mid-2003
on the effectiveness of the publicity and public education
campaign of the Women's Commission, as well as to look
into the community perceptions of gender-related issues,
including the need to introduce gender-mainstreaming,
reasons that deter women from realizing their potential
and extent of gender stereotyping.

A Thematic Household Survey was conducted on
the time use pattern of women and men in Hong Kong and
their pattern of participation in society.

A mailed questionnaire survey on the extent
and levels of positions taken up by women in private
and non-governmental sectors in Hong Kong was released
in November 2002.

A telephone survey was commissioned in February 2002
on the extent of satisfaction of women in Hong
Kong in respect of their current state of affairs.
