Women’s Commission (WoC) held an exchange session on 30th September entitled “Sex Disaggregated Data: Compilation and Dissemination”, at Kowloon Centre of Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association. About 70 participants from women’s groups, academia and government departments joined the session and actively exchanged their views on the topic.

WoC invited Mr. Billy Li, Senior Statistician (Acting) from Census and Statistics Department and Dr. Leung Lai-ching from WoC, to introduce the practice on compilation and arrangement of sex-disaggregated data, as well as researches and surveys on women-related topics respectively. The guest speaker, Dr. Ng Chun-hung, associate professor from Department of Sociology, The University of Hong Kong, shared his views on collection of data and surveys concerning women-related issues. Mr. Stephen Leung, Assistant Commissioner (Social Statistics) from Census and Statistics Department, and the three speakers exchanged their views on the topic with attendees in discussion session. These opinions were drawn to conclusions on how to conduct similar surveys and they were practical guidance helpful to researchers.
